The department of Electronics and
Communication Engineering is one of the departments that started at the time of
inception of CVR College of Engineering in 2001 with an intake of 60. Expanding its horizon over the years, the
department presently offers B.Tech programs with an intake of 180 and 3 M.Tech
programs with specialization in VLSI (intake 36), Embedded Systems (intake 18)
and Wireless & Mobile Communication (intake 18). The department has well-equipped state-of-art
laboratories of Electronic Devices & Circuits, Pulse, Digital & IC
circuits, Basic Simulation, Communications, Digital Signal Processing,
Microwave & Optical Communications and Microprocessors.
Advanced Research Laboratories :
Advanced research laboratories include VLSI
Center of Excellence, Embedded Systems and Advanced Communications labs. Software available includes latest versions
of MATLAB with several tool boxes, CADENCE, Xilinx and Co-design tools, to name
Mo Us :
Department has MoUs with Wayne State University, IUCEE, Xilinx, Cypress, Intel Corporation, EMC academy, CERTIPORT, Inc and IIIT-H. It has also entered into Mo U with Cadence Design Systems Inc. to receive full-fledged VLSI EDA.
This resulted in the establishment of a VLSI Design Laboratory with software like Cadence Tools, Xilinx, Modelsim, Altera.
As a result, this department is able to provide guidance to the students at Masters and Doctoral level.
The strengths of the department are the specialized labs, meritorious students, senior professors, dynamic & young associate and assistant professors, industrious academic assistants and staff.
Some of the achievements of our students include securing university ranks, admission to IITs, foreign universities, placements in reputed companies – Infosys Technologies Limited, TCS, CTS, Mahindra Satyam, etc.
A memorable Event:
We had the good opportunity of Prof. Magdy Bayoumi a Senior Professor, IEEE Fellow and Director for Centre of Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, U.S.A., an authority in VLSI from 1970, visiting the Lab on 19-02-2006. He addressed the students and staff of the College. As a tribute for his authority in VLSI and a great satisfaction to CVR, the VLSI Lab is named now as "Prof. Magdy Bayoumi Centre for VLSI Design".
Accrediation : The department is accredited by
National Board of Accreditation.
